An apology to anyone I may have offended by my (now-deleted) post about the Pythons: I was not commenting on the content of their work, much of which is offensive, but on the fact that they have found a way to deal with the piracy of software which exists on the internet. I understand my comment may have been read as if I was promoting their "artistic" work rather than their action relating to the internet.
Back to work after another busy weekend:
Saturday morning, I got my latest assignment in the post and then went to Embroiderers Guild to make some Xmas tree decorations: very sweet patchwork stars: whether I will have time to do any more is another story.
Yesterday, we had a lovely "Toy" service where children and others brought their gifts for children in shelters, asylum seekers etc.
A meal out with Inger and Justin was really relaxing and the drive home over snow-spattered moors was lovely.
Work today...hectic...in 4 weeks time we will be in our new quarters: a smart new building.

Embroiderers' Guild
Carol S and I went to our "play day" again: lovely morning working with bonding fabrics to use for Xmas decorations or cards: lts of fun and lots of creativity in the group. It is so liberating to do something totally different for at least one day of the month.
The afternoon was absolutely delightful: we had a talk on "Bags for Shakespeare's heroines", given by an ex-English teacher who is a wonderful artist: she showed (about 30?) bags she has created created with various of Shakespeare's characters in mind: how I wished Ann C (Nashville) could have been there: she would have enjoyed the artistry and the topic!(as would many of my friends).
Inger came for the evening and we 3 went out to a restaurant called "Flavours" which serves Thai and Indian food: absolutely yummy and the perfect end to the day....and so to bed.

Autumn rain!
Leaves falling all around, house untidy, work waiting, blogging opens a new world, to friends old and new, distracting me from all these.
All SA and Oz friends/family who phone: remember the clocks go back tonight and so we are separaed by an extra hour! Never mind, I will probably use it to catch up on...sleep! XX

Blogging along
I tried to leave a message for a friend this evening: it took me half an hour to retrieve my password: I seem to strggle these days, as I have passwords at work and at home: soon I intend to get down to the real thing and post some photos...in the meantime, it's off to bed! Sleep tight!

October....autumnal musings
Very windy and wet so far: some lovely red autumn leaves close to our house, but I have an assignment to finish by tomorrow evening, so the weekend is a bit of a "washout". This morning we had a flu jab clinic, so I feel a bit jaded now. The long term goal, ie the diploma will be worthwhile however, and I can play with my sewing machine next weekend!

explanation for Jill and others
MOTB stands for Mother Of The Bride...the highlight of 2008...there have been plenty of others, but I really enjoyed sewing for the bridesmaids, hence the link in the blog name...trying to describe "me". As you may know, there are other aspects too!

WELL. SO MUCH FOR MY MID-YEAR RESOLUTION!

BERNINA: GETTING TO KNOW YOU
My Elna, aged 32, has now been laid to rest: something to do with the motor siezing and an expensive manouvre to replace a small part (the engine compressor). I visited Bamber's in Manchester and was soon given the sad news and made a happy purchase: a computerised Bernina 400 with all mod cons especially a memory which makes all buttonholes on one garment the same as the rest! Buttonholes are what put e off making clothes in recent years! (apart from lack of time!) Can't wait to play some more today!

Birthday blues!
I am another year older, but perhaps not wiser. Today attended the 2nd of 3 days on advanced communication skills: did not FEEL very skilled, although the group and the trainer thought I did fine. The constructive suggestions were really good and I look forward to trying some of them: the only thing is, a day like this can be exhausting!
Thank goodness we could follow this with a lovely relaxing evening with the newly-weds, who had organised a lovely meal at their home. Chilli, salad and Devonshire cream cake...if i go on like this, it will be a foodie blog.
My internet research for a sewing machine continues...and the Embellisher needles I ordered last weekend have not yet arrived!

Getting started
Well, I registered my blog on 27th June: and nobody has any idea that I have one: no time to get it up and running yet! I do have a good friend who has a great blog and I will take tips from her as soon as we get to chat again! I love looking at her pics and the realated family blogs.
My other favourite blogs are related to quilts and textile art. Such eye-candy around the world..
Which reminds me: my sewing machine (a tried and trusted 32-year old Elna SU) died on me last Saturday: well it didn't actually die so much as take on an energietic new lease of life, when the electronic pedal seemed to get stuck on GO-FAST....and the only way to stop the poor machine running was to turn off the power!
Disaster...well maybe not...perhaps I will treat myself to a new machine for my b....day.
